Papyri’s Villa in Syracuse is an old restored Sicilian farmhouse dating back to the 19th century. It has an extension of 17 hectares where lemons and oranges are organically cultivated. The property is surrounded by papyruses over 3 metres high and other traditional Mediterranean plants and trees, like centuries-old olive trees, palms, almonds, carobs. It is located 5 km from Syracuse, in the River Ciane & Saline Nature Reserve, three metres from the mythological Ciane spring. It is precisely this spring that preserves the only autochthonous European papyrus station, a plant used since time immemorial for the preparation of those extraordinary paper rolls on which much of the history of human civilisation has been handed down.
