Olive oil is at the heart of Mediterranean diet and is known for its healthy role in our nutrition. Being Sicily at the centre of Mediterranean, olive oil has a very important place in our cuisine, where it is appreciated for its rich yet fresh taste and its versatility. Here olive oil comes to life, as one of the flavors in a dish. And, if you think that Sicily has almost three millennia of olive oil history – when the Greeks were building here their temples, they planted olive trees at the same time – and a great variety of local cultivar of olives, you realize that we have a lot to say (and enjoy!) about olive oil…
We are speaking about extra virgin olive oil, of course, and, beacause we like olive oil at its best, our experience takes place in a farm where olive oil is produced organically, in respect of natural cycles and to exaltate the characteristics of local soil and olive cultivars.
To let you choose and appreciate the excellence of Sicilian extra virgin olive oil, we selected a farm on the black and mineral lavic slopes of Mt. Etna: Merlino’s house, with its many times awarded oil.
After visiting the farm, while tasting some bruschettas with olive oil and a glass of wine, take part in our hands-on cooking class and discover the most tempting recipes of the Sicilian cuisine, selected to be matched at their best with the farm olive oils.
