An exciting pasta-making challenge, from shaping to sauce creation

All the world knows pasta and most of the people love it. As you know, Italians are crazy for pasta, so we have more than 200 shapes of it! (for every kind of sauce or recipe…).

But, do you know how to make pasta? And how fun and exciting it could be for a group?
Our format is a great chance to discover the secrets of this so loved dish and also an occasion of conviviality, synergy and healthy competition: this is our “pasta race” format!

After an introduction to the activity and a brief demonstration by our chef, participants, divided into teams, deal with some fun challenges about shapes and types of Sicilian and Italian pasta. Technical skills and team work are very important to win the challenges, also because the pasta made will be served during lunch!
Finally, it's time for the “creativity” challenge: each team creates its own sauce or pesto recipe and seasons the pasta just made with it.
Shape, creativity, taste and flavours are judged by a jury of chefs that declares and awards the best team!

If the pasta race takes place in Catania, it also includes the visit to the Piscarìa, the historical food market, where teams could buy some ingredients and be inspired by the authentic atmosphere of the market, its colours and flavours.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

  • Guided visit of the venues

  • English spoken conduction of challenges by our announcer

  • Visit of the historical food market (from Monday to Saturday, only in the morning) to purchase some ingredients for the class.
    Note: only for cooking class hold in Catania

  • Hands-on pasta making: guided by our chefs, teams learn how to make pasta from scratch and model pasta shapes such as cavatelli, maccheroncini, ravioli, tortelli...

  • All the printed materials, tools and ingredients for the activity

  • Food storytelling: with our chef, learn the secrets of local ingredients and the connections between recipes and Sicilian fascinating history and culture

  • Lunch with the pasta made and other delicacies:

    • Three-course menu: appetizers, pasta, dessert

    • Beverage: 1 glass of wine or 1 beer o 1 soft drink pp; ½ litre of water pp, coffee
      Note: at Benanti winery: 3 wines (as wine tasting, 1 glass per wine pp) and water

  • Prize for the winning team: an apron with personalised logo

  • Recipes leaflet with pasta recipes
