The Piscarìa is the famous traditional fish and food market of Catania. It’s the oldest market, right in the Baroque heart of the city centre, between the Dome square and the 16th century city walls. Among the stalls you can find a huge variety of the best local seasonal products: fish, fruits, vegetables, meat, cheeses, cured meats, spices, bread... Usually the Piscarìa is the only place where you can find some rare products, like wild vegetables or ancient varieties of local fruit grown only by small passionate farmers. The authentic atmosphere of the Piscarìa is a unique mix made of the vivacious colours of fruit and vegetables, the shouts of the sellers and the typical smells of food: a truly unmissable visit!
